A bit of climbing history:

Svolværgeita, the iconic horn-shaped pinnacle above the town of Svolvær in Lofoten, was first climbed on August 1st, 1910, by Norwegian climbers Ferdinand Schjelderup, Alf Bonnevie Bryn, and Carl Wilhelm Rubenson. Their ascent marked a milestone in Norwegian climbing history, combining boldness and exploration in a time of minimal gear and rudimentary techniques.

Approaching the formation with ropes and basic alpine equipment, the team ascended what is now known as the 1910 Route, navigating steep granite and committing moves with great exposure. The climb finishes on the Geita’s distinct twin summits—the Horns—with climbers often making the traditional leap between them.

This first ascent not only opened up climbing in Lofoten but helped establish the region as a premier alpine destination in Norway. Today, Svolværgeita remains a classic must-do for climbers visiting the area.
